Power Plant Technology
A worldwide leading project on the way to the development of state-of-the-art coal-burning power plants with steam temperatures above 700 °C is presently being implemented in Northrine-Westphalia: Comtes700 (Component Test Facility for a 700 °C Power Plant). The project is carried out with financial support from the Research Fund for Coal and Steel of the European Commission and the European operators and manufacturers, coordinated by VGB PowerTech e.V. New materials and components for future coal-burning power plants with a significantly increased degree of efficiency of > 50 % are tested there for the first time for power plants to emit less CO² per kilowatt hour produced.
